I created a business plan for a fromagerie (fancy talk for cheese shop) while in a "learning day" session at work about "how to start a business." Friends and family helped brainstorm names and the concept (these founders are now the trusted cheese tasters). At the start the working name was "the Fromage Sisters" because it made everyone
I created a business plan for a fromagerie (fancy talk for cheese shop) while in a "learning day" session at work about "how to start a business." Friends and family helped brainstorm names and the concept (these founders are now the trusted cheese tasters). At the start the working name was "the Fromage Sisters" because it made everyone laugh (we were not sisters), and we toyed with "Stinky Wheels" and "Kinds of Blue" before I decided to keep it simple and go with "Sanford Cheese." Six months and lots of paperwork later, Sanford Cheese launched at the farmer's market.

It's simple-- we love Sanford and we love cheese! My family moved to Sanford in 2023 and we love being part of the community. But there wasn't a great place in the historic downtown area to buy really great cheese. Being a problem-solver, I decided to open a cheese shop! For now I'm only selling at the Sanford Marketplace on Saturday mornings. Who knows what the future will bring!

Our mission is to bring good cheese to Sanford. I source quality artisan cheeses from around the U.S. and the world. I want to offer cheeses you can't get at the grocery store. My focus is family and heritage farms that use sustainable farming practices. Once my volunteer tasting team helps me identify great cheeses, I ship them to Sanfor

Each week I cut and wrap the selections in pieces that are just right for your cheese plate-- and your budget!
